The Limbe Market is said to have been established in 1906; it is located in Limbe within the Blantyre District in the southern region. The market serves the surrounding local areas of Chigumula, Mudi, Ndirande, Bangwe, Kanjedza, Kachere and Makhetha. It also serves surrounding districts like Mulanje, Thyolo, Chiradzulu, Zomba and Phalombe.
Next to the market is the Limbe city centre, which is well known as an industrial centre, where you can find numerous Chinese and Indian owned businesses.
You can travel to Limbe market by minibus, taxi, motorcycle or by foot.
To get to the market by minibus, you need to take a minibus from Blantyre CBD minibus rank called Mibawa Bus rank heading to Limbe via Chipembele Highway and get off at either Hardware Bus stop, or Kapenga bus stop, or at Limbe’s main bus depot.
It takes approximately 15 minutes to get there and it’s only a 10-minute walk down to the market. You should expect to pay about K1,000 return bus fare.
